This program is designed for students in kindergarten and 1st grade to target early learning skills. The content will focus on classroom routines, early literacy, early numeracy skills, and engaging with peers, in order to build a stronger foundation for future academic success. Daily activities will focus on lessons to engage learners in whole group, small group, and 1:1 learning stations. When looking at students for placement, placement of students will be considered based on their need for additional support in building the essential foundational skills of school readiness in academics, social skills, and executive functioning. The time dedicated to building these skills will help school teams focus on future classroom placements to best meet the individual needs of the students. While in the Foundations Program, mainstream opportunities will begin at earliest signs of growing independence and skill development.
